Jacob N. S. Brier (they/them) writes at the intersection of Jewish values, queer identity, and civic life. A Rhode Island-based poet, consultant, and community organizer, Jacob is a former member of the Barrington Town Council, is the Vice Chair of the town's Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Committee, and has spent decades building organizations and advocating for belonging.
Their columns appear regularly in Rhode Island publications, connecting Jewish teachings to local civic questions. Jacob holds an MBA in Organizational Leadership and the PHR® credential, runs Butterfly Benefits LLC, is an independent insurance agent with Brier & Brier, and facilitates strategic planning and community dialogue. Jacob is currently studying and training to become an interfaith community chaplain.
They live in Barrington with their wife and son, where they continue the work of tikkun olam — repairing the world, one conversation, or column, or poem at a time.
